Meet the Henry brothers

I have been thinking a lot about these three men because my mom and dad just got back from a trip with them and their wives. These are my dad's brothers, Gary and Dick. Although I don't get to see them often, every time that I do, it always makes me wish that we lived closer. Gary(far right) is the oldest (and I'm sure the wisest too), he and I have birthdays close together and so I have always thought that made me his favorite niece. His sense of humor is amazing and I always find myself smiling when I am with him. Uncle Dick (next to my dad on the left), is the founder of "Happy Henry Tours". I have been able to go on a couple of trips and always have a great time. Dick also has a great sense of humor, and on the occasion that he hears what you say, he usually comes back with a "witty" comment. Side note: Hearing problems run in the Henry family...what's that you ask...I said, hearing problems run in the Henry family. Another side note: The lady on the far left is my dad's cousin Pat, she is also a wonderful person, but we will stick with the Henry men for this post. Anyway, I know most of you that read this blog probably are more familiar with my mom's side of the family because they all live relatively (no pun intended) close, so I wanted to introduce you all to my dad's side. They are wonderful people who I always feel so connected with even though we don't see each other often. I can't wait to hear more stories from their recent trip together. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to hear the conversations that took place between the brothers...I'm sure they were priceless. If you ever wonder where my amazing sense of humor comes from...I'm sure it's from all of them.

Happy Birthday Jenn!

Jenn, I have been looking through my pictures and have come up with some winners! We all love you so much, and always have so much fun when you are around. You always make sure that we plan fun things to do and then actually do them...thats the part where I always fall short. I hope you had a fantastic day! I hope you enjoy the pics.

Ah, Jenn, you have always been so cute. That short dark hair and those big brown eyes. It looks like in this picture we were at yet, another sporting event. Track meet, I think. This is where most of our childhood pictures are taken.

We have gone on some crazy rides together, I think this was one of our best. Who was the maniac driving this boat. Bruce, I think.

Jenn, how can I ever thank you for this horrible of all horrible jobs that you did for me. Maybe buy you a plane ticket, oh yeah, I did. Anyway that didn't even come close to paying you back for all the horrible jobs we asked you to do. Every time I look at my popcorn free ceilings, I think of you. Did I tell you we are trying to buy another fixer upper. I already have your ticket booked. Thanks Jenn.

I really am lucky to have such amazing sisters (and brothers and mom and dad). I am grateful for good examples in my family and Jenn is definitely one of them. I hope you had a great day. I have so many more cute pictures of you, but not enough space. Happy Birthday.

I am finally going public

I have kept my blog private for a while and have received some flack for it, so I decided to expose myself. I am not a consistent blogger, so don't expect a new post everyday, but I will try to keep up.

Now it's really official

We have our house up for sale....with a realtor. We have attempted to sell it on our own for the past 6 weeks, but with no success. This sign in my yard causes a bit of anxiety in my life...for the following reasons.

1. Every realtor in the greater Tri-city area has a key to my front door.

2. Realtors are supposed to call you and make an appointment to show your house. They have to give me ONE HOUR to have my house ready to show. I don't know if I am by myself on this one, but one hour to have my house in tip top condition at any given hour of the day is not very realistic.

3. I have Emma and Rebekah at home with me all day. Enough said.

4. If our house does sell quickly, which is what we are hoping for, we have not purchased a home to move into. Our options include a tent on our 1 acre lot in Quail Bluff or my parents house. I think the latter is a little more realistic. Sorry mom and dad.

This really is a great house that we are living in. We just need about 1500 more square feet. We need a nice couple nearing or in retirement that don't want a huge yard, want a place to park their RV and a nice little home with brand new everything. If you know of any, send them our way.

Our Lucky Day....for most of us.

I have had people tell me that I am a lucky person. At least when it comes to radio station giveaways. Well, on the way to school every morning, 98.3 does a kids trivia game. They ask a general knowledge question and then kids 12 and under are invited to call and answer. If they get it right they get a 15.00 gift certificate to Monkey Doos, which is a place where they do children hairdo's. Sarah, Hannah, Rebekah and yes even Emma love to call in, but we have never been lucky enough to get in and have the correct answer. Well, this morning our luck changed. It was only Hannah and Sarah and I in the car and the question was, how do bee's communicate with each other. Well, Hannah's eyes got wide and a big smile came to her face as she shouted "THEY DANCE." Sarah is the official caller, because she can talk on the phone politely and can speak clearly. So Sarah got through, and Hannah provided her with the right answer and you would have thought that we just won 3 million dollars in the lottery. I was impressed with Hannah (and I think she was pretty impressed with herself too) for remembering that tidbit of knowledge from her science class. Sarah told her that they make a pretty good team. They asked Sarah how she knew the answer and she told them that her little sister told her so they threw in a $10 burger king gift card too. And so that is how we started a lucky Friday. Actually, if you want to get specific, Friday actually starts at 12:00am which is about the time Chad and the porcelain throne got to be really close and personal. Poor guy! I have never heard such forceful loud vomiting in my life. He really gave it his all. Anyway, so Chad's day isn't so lucky, but back to mine. As I was pulling in to the driveway from picking up our loot from the radio station, I heard them announce the location for the FREE GAS FRIDAY GIVEAWAY! It was just down the street at the old MR. QWIKS. I raced down there, along with half of the tri-cities, dodged cars left and right and pulled in and received 10 gallons of free gas. I didn't even have to pump it. They had all of the radio station employee's there to do it. Wow, did it feel good to see that little gage moving up toward the F without any of the $ leaving my account. Anyway, that has been my lucky day so far. We will see how the rest goes. Hopefully no more vomiting! I hope you all have a great weekend, and if you ever want to win something off the radio, don't call me, I think I used up all of my good luck today!
